Any OEM truck bed is going to be at least over 48" between the wheel wells, so it can fit a sheet of plywood.... therefore a camper is going to be probably slightly less than 48".
If truck manufacturers are posting widths of 61", it isn't the width between the wheel wells, it must be the width between the bed rails.
