Also keep in mind the there are different heights of bed rails (sides) depending on year and manufacturer.
Also newer trucks have smaller tailgate openings, i.e. you measure the width of the top of the rails in the front of the bed it will be far wider than the opening for the tailgate. This creates problems if you buy a few year old camper and a brand new truck.
