Bedrug Feedback

I bought my truck used. The original owner sprayed in rhino lining then put a BedRug over it fifteen years ago. It is still in excellent shape as is the rhino lining. I've come to like the BedRug for the softness to my knees and the fact that it helps keep things from sliding around. I installed a BedRug mat (no side protection) in my previous truck which was easily removed when needed. It didn't go when I sold the truck and I use it to lay on when working underneath rigs. If I were to get a new truck, I would also go with a BedRug rather than a spray in liner.

That being said, I run a tonneau cover and previously the truck had a canopy. I don't think I would choose it if not covered most of the time. I don't haul anything that requires a shovel to remove. It dries quickly when wet as it doesn't absorb much water. i use mine for all your applications except the junkyard parts. I also have fifth wheel rails in my truck so the liner is cut out around them. The thickness of the BedRug allows lumber to slide right over the rails.

I had a BedRug and a hard tri-fold Tonneau cover on my previous GMC Sierra and loved the combo. The BedRug really helped protect cargo (we never carried anything "dirty"). The only drawback was that a couple of strips had to be cut out of the BedRug for the fifth wheel rails - not a big deal, though. Our current truck came with a factory srayed-in liner and we don't have a cover on it. Since we treat this truck much more like a truck than we did the GMC, it's a good setup, too.

I have a bedrug too, but I also have a soft tonneau on it and it gets parked in a garage while at home..

That being said, I really like the BR, as I don't plan on hauling any dirt or gravel in it either.. I have hauled firewood and to clean it out, I swept out what I could and then had to vacuum it to get the splinters out of it.

You are supposed to be able to spray it out with a hose and it's supposed to be UV resistant per the demo video on their web site..

I'd do it again if/when I get a new truck, but I'll likely be able to transfer the BR to the new truck anyway..

Do you have to strap everything in when you have a bedrug? For instance, if you had a cardboard storage box in there would it slide all over or stay put like they will with the spray in liners?

I have the BedTred from Bedrug. I initially liked it, but it doesn't stand up to hard use. Mine is torn up from throwing firewood in, dragging furniture across, etc. They do have a warranty, but I'd have to take it apart and mail back the damaged piece (difficult and expensive to ship). I'm a little disappointed that it isn't as tough, especially for $400. My next truck I'll go back to Line-X and maybe put down a rubber bed mat to make it easier on my knees. I've chipped up my Line-X before, but that's easily fixed by taking it back to the installer and having the damaged area re-shot.

If it was $200 I might be okay with the quality... but it costs about as much as a spray in and seems inferior for MY needs. If you are super gentle with it and don't drag things or toss heavy items in, it'll probably be fine.

I have a rubber bed mat that has stood up to all conditions and periodic abuse over 15+ years.
Cut holes in the mat to mount the hitch in 2005.
Sorry I don't remember the company. Heavy reinforced rubber.

Figured when it was shot I would spray in but I think the mat will outlast me at this point.

If it has a flat bottom, things will slide around on the rug at least for me..

The heavier something is, will help, but if you turn hard enough, just about anything will move in the bed..

I had a Bedrug installed in a previous truck I had and really liked it. But I also had a hard fiberglass tonneau cover so it was never exposed to weather.

Why?
Maybe if you're using it like a car trunk with a topper or tonneau and don't put anything you wouldn't put in the trunk of your car.

Great for back of the truck camping with a topper, but otherwise just a hassle in an open pickup truck bed.

If I used my truck as an actual "work truck", I would not want the BR.. Since I use my truck as a daily driver and for towing my TT and for all road trips (leaving the 2003 RAV 4 in the garage! :) ) It's what works for me.

I do have a 4x8 utility trailer that I use for my truck bed duties.. It's easier to load/unload, has a tilt bed as well and easy peasy to hitch up and just use..
