Any thoughts on the air mattress idea?
Long ago I had an air mattress in an older TC I had. I HATED having an air mattress.
Why?
* You have to remember to uncork it if you're going over any mountain passes. If you don't it will pop.
* You need to carry a spare in case it gets a leak you can't find...or... pops because you forgot to uncork it going over a mountain pass.
* It's constantly cold - cold from the bunk floor goes right through it to you. A regular mattress acts like a big piece of insulation, an air mattress doesn't. And no mattress topper, foam rubber, "egg crate" or extra blankets really seemed to help.
* You have to let air in/out to adjust firmness every time you go somewhere because you're camping at different elevations.
