Ya, one would think that! Most "campers" in North America are paid campground campers! Our RV's see nothing but flat paved roads and are built to suit. Unfortunate but thats what we have to deal with. Built to suit the major buying crowd!
We do a lot of that here,(paid campgrounds) but we still sit outside to eat, read, relax, watch the kids, meet people passing by etc. etc.
Fortunately the smaller TT's like your Lance 2185 only has a dinette slide out. Thats high on our list, especially after your praises of it. :-)
I don't own a lance and I wouldn't really praise it as there are some design features that I don't really care for. Plus they don't make anything in the size I require.
Paid Campgrounds lead to the designs we have now and in order to get some privacy we required more room inside. That was all I was refering too.

Our internet research only, has so far got 3 TT's on our short list we like, such as Lance, Fun finder & KZ and only because of floor plan & size, mainly.
