Just looking at weights of comparable size tires, the weight goes up with the tread profile. Not scientific but I'd take my chances running over a bag of nails with a MT tire over a HT tire if there was money on not getting a flat.
Regarding brands of tires, no different Than any other consumer product. I run, or am around many light duty trucks daily with all kinds of tires. Not one stands out for being "stronger" than the other, nor do any have any real inherent defects......although I've had BFG At KOs that seemed to take more weight to balance comparatively speaking.
Wouldn't stop me from buying a set.
