Otherwise a simple second battery and 200 watts solar will reduce or eliminate the need for a generator. Does not have to be an all or nothing scenario. And the silence is priceless.Solar panels are not very expensive.. not sure where you got that idea.
Run me up a price to put solar on my truck camper, one that would run the TV,C-Pap a portable refer and a 5K AC..My truck camper only came with one group 24 battery, although I have changed that..
Include everything needed to just plug in the TV..
200w of solar will generate maybe 800w-hr.
C-pap will presumably run at least 8hr per day at 50w...400w-hr.
Say 4hr of TV at 60w...240w-hr
Efficient compressor Fridge 24hr at say a 50% duty cycle and 50w..600w-hr.
That's 1240w-hr on a typical day...so you will need the generator regardless on most days and on cloudy/shady situations, it will produce next to nothing. Plus there are likely other electrical draws not included.
So, the suggested system is significantly undersized and if you have to buy a generator and use it daily, doesn't make much sense to also buy a solar system. You are probably looking at, at least double the system size to avoid generator use on most days.
