OK, here's one for ya. Yosemite Valley floor, Lower Pines campground. We were one of 4 sites occupied in the large campground, the other 2 large campgrounds closed due to lack of use. No, not kidding. January, mid week, not a vacation week. I have done this a few times, sometimes you have to share the campground with as many as 8 or 10 other parties. By the end of March, it starts to pick up, and by April, you will probably need a reservation.
