(Btw, that article was about hooks on straps. A nylon sling is the least likely piece of typical tow hardware to injure anyone in the process. But others are safe too if you know what you’re doing.)
But there’s a difference between thinking you know what you’re doing and having your mind made up even though your largely uninformed about the subject and actually knowing what you’re doing.
One of the perks of being in construction is having a pretty much endless supply of , not legal for hoisting any longer, rigging that can be used for recovery or towing.
