Jack,
For whatever it's worth, this excerpt was taken from page 43 of the copy I have of the current Good Year engineering data book:
"LT — Light Truck tires for service on Trucks, Buses, Trailers and Multi-Purpose Passenger Vehicles used in normal highway service. "
To me, the way I read that, they are approving the use of their LT tires on trailers. It does not mention any restrictions on any given LT tire of any size in their range. This data book covers all of their brands ( Good Year, Kelly, Dunlop )
If what your are saying is fact why is it that Goodyear only lists one LT tire and only one for use on TTs and 5ers?
That being the Unisteel® G614 RST® available in one size only 235 85 16 Load Range G (3700# @ 110 PSI). If you look at the specs on this tire it appears to be an ST dressed up in an LT mold. It has the smaller tread depth that is used on ST tires to reduce squirm and disipate heat.
That is also the only LT tire that would meet the requirements of my rig and give me any sort of margin for error.
The tire data label on my rig specifically states ST tires, not ST or LT tires.
I for one do not intend on testing your theories on LT tires in a lawsuit that would risk my retirement savings and everything that I own.
