I had the chance to drive a 2500 (Dodge & Chevy) & an F250 equally equipped around a test drive course at a local Horse Racing track.
The chevy had the best ride
The Ford had the most power off the line
I ranked the Dodge 3rd...ride was too stiff and interior was not on par with the other two
I ranked the Chevy number 1 due to the ride and interior. The chevy interior had more of a luxury car feel than the other two. But it also had the stuff you look for in a truck...big buttons for gloves.
I'm guessing this comparison would scale up to the 1 tons
My choice of tow vehicle was a 3500 chevy with duramax and allison but I fell in love with a C4500 the dealer had on their lot. He gave me a deal I couldn't pass up. It has the same engine and trans as the 3500 but a much heavier suspension. As a tow vehicle the duramax and allison are hard to beat when towing my 15,000lb 5th wheel. It's not a hot rod but does keep up with traffic and is very stable and safe especially when going down a steep grade.
