You are kidding, right?
Nope .... not kidding.
When compared with equally equipped Ford and Chevy models the Dodge was my 3rd choice. The chevy ride and interior was much better in my opinion.
Odd, I tried out in 10, 12 and very early 13', the Ford King Ranch, Chevy in LTZ trim and Dodge/Ram Laramie and Longhorn, all 3500 dually's and came away feeling, as did the wife, that the Ram had the best looking and most comfortable interior, with Ford 2nd., Chevy's had been the same for years, but I still felt it was comfortable...just liked the looks of the new Ram's better than the other two, but it's for sure all three are more than capable in towing capabilities. OP could get, I believe, for no more weight than he is talking, a new 1 ton SRW ( pick your color) and be ok, though I do like the stability the Dually offers when towing.
To the OP, all three make a great truck that will fit your needs. I would prefer a dually for it's stability when towing in mountainous, curvy terrain and having towed with both SRW and DRW, prefer a dually, but for your weight, do the research and math...would think that a new 1 ton SRW truck would work for you.
Diesel/gas....That's the OP's choice...why argue:h Figure he knows his budget and his needs.
