best tow vehicle

I am looking a purchasing a new tow vehicle. Which will be a 1 ton. My trailer is a 36' Carriage Cameo GVWR is 15990# I would like to get some insight from those of you that have experience with the different manf. such as Chevy, Ford, and Dodge as to why one is better than the other. I know that this is opening a can of worms, but intended to. I have looked at the horsepower and torque of each unit, but that does not tell you the whole story. Which one is the most reliable and holds up the best. I have heard alot about the Dodges being not as reliable and needing more repairs, but do not know that first hand. That is why I would like some real good feedback from those of you that have the knowledge. Also which would be the better truck a SRW or DRW and why. Not sure how much I will be pulling the trailer.

Thanks

  • Hey there! Welcome to the Forums. I'm in the same position your in, and just put a post "out there" yesterday. Got some "interesting" responses. Click here and enjoy the ride!

I do believe travelnutz really gave the most honest answer, at lest the one I was looking for! (near the end of the thread).

Once again welcome. As you can tell by my signature, I'm a GM guy, Chevy Silverado 3500 dually (diesel)

Wanna start a real "debate", rather than ask about 1-tons, ask which is better ... gas or diesel....

Hey everyone, why not give him your best shot ... 1 ton Gas or Diesel, dually or single? And brand! Oh this should be fun!

    Once again Welcome!
