Bigfoot & NL Construction?

So how are these campers built? I understand the clamshell. They have foam insulation, I assume sprayed to the interior walls? How are the cabinets attached to the walls? Or, is anything attached to the walls? Is the wall covering like wallpaper and glued on to the insulation? Ceiling as well?
Yes, I'm clueless. Neither one's website is much help.
Happy 4th of July.
  • I'd like to reply to what appears to be negative input concerning NL. I purchased a 2016 8'11" QSE with all options and have now spent almost 30 night in it and have traveled around 5000 miles both on and off road; most recently to Nova Scotia. I have nothing but praise concerning this TC and the customer service demonstrated by NL (Keith). Have I had any problems, yes, the Happy Jacks (Electronics) failed shortly after delivery. I notified Keith who promptly notified HJ and they immediately replaced the receiver/transmitter. As for leaks and humidity problems, I keep an eye out but have had no issues. Be careful not to equate the quality of a much older NL to that of today's models. In my eyes, it is one of the best built units out there! My two cents!
  • I have a Northern Lite. I bought it in May, 2013. It has been to Alaska once and to Arizona three times. It is on my truck all the time so it has seen over 40,000 miles without any issues.

    Hopes this helps,
    LeRoy
  • I used to live in Oak Harbor, Wa.

Yes I paid only 23 k for my 03 NL new. After many repairs done by myself because the warranty shops were average, had to redo anyways, so all toll about 5000 bucks worth of leak stopping and structural work done by myself to get it half right. Still has issues. I'd hate to pay the 38,000 dollar price tag now a days.

I'm thinking about a nice roomier trailer I can unhitch/ hitch in no time for a base camp set up.

Thanks! Looks like fiberglass, insulation, and luan in the pic at the seam. I guess they have plywood molded in the floor to screw cabinets to. I might call Bigfoot.
Looking at 2 of them on the internet.
  • We bought a Big foot 25' 2009. we thought (and was told) it was built like a Boston Whaler boat, it was not, they use 1/2" poly foam sheets glued to the walls. It sweated so bad the first winter we had 1/2" of ice on the interior any where you could look.

When you look at how they are build, you'll wonder why you paid so much. the trailer was our only experience with big foot.

    and probably the last.
