Biggest truck camper not for f450 550
I've noticed people saying that an f450/550 is needed for the heaviest truck campers?? You guys realize that the f-350 dually has a higher payload right?

I just stumbled across this post I started and forgot about...haha. Lots of harsh words used to describe my knowledge... Fair enough, because I didn't leave much detail and probably should have left the /550 out of the post. Good luck finding one of those on the lot with a ford truck bed. If I'm wrong about the f350 dually not having the highest payload then I'm willing to listen and learn. I should have also clarified that I'm not talking about ordering a frikn CC and having to modify to get a pickup bed. I'm also trying to say that for the heaviest truck camper on the market a 2014 F350 dually in gas form will have a 6800lb slide in camper allowance assuming all available seats occupied by 150lb persons according to Fords website. Even if you ordered a CC and wanted to go through all the trouble to get the 16500 GVWR you still need to figure your payload. I'm guessing the curb weight would be around 9000lbs after proper mods. One poster talked about Ford derating the F450 in 2011 to 13050lbs gvwr and that further dimishes the payload!! I currently own a 2010 F450 for that very reason. My gvwr is 14500lbs which gives me just under 6000lbs payload. That is still a long way from a 2014 F350 Dually gasser. I still prefer my 2010 F450 though because of the brakes, wheels, axel and especially the turning radius is a nice bonus. If you want to order a 550 CC and go through the time, expense and hassle that's great!!! My point was it's not necessary. If want to tow a massive load and carry a truck camper that's a different story. I personally wouldn't want anything but my F450 for towing my boat and hauling the camper, but if you look at the the trucks on the lot at your local Ford Dealer the f350 dually gas wins on payload, and you don't need a modified CC450/550 to haul a truck camper!
