Really depends on how much you value your bikes. If you have cheap bikes, I can understand why you would feel that way. But you saying not a good idea questions if you have much experience with those types of mounts. Certainly the plywood is not going to lift up allowing the bikes to go through the window. Not sure the reason for your "Not a good idea" comment.
