I'm a plain water fan. Try it, maybe you won't need a deodorizer. Typically, when you do have an odor, you might have a problem with a bad seal, plugged vent, or a leak. If and when you do discover an odor, see if you can find out exactly where it is coming from. Always remember to turn off the exhaust fan when you flush the toilet.
When traveling, I put a cup of liquid laundry detergent (Oxy-Clean) an a cap full of Calgon water softener in both tanks along with about 5 gallons of water. When traveling, the soapy solution will slosh around in your tank. Once at my destination, I will drain and flush with fresh water.
I have been doing this for years....no odors and my tank sensors work perfectly.
So, if you don't have an odor now, no need to flush $$ down the drain with deodorizers. Use plenty of fresh water (in the toilet) to flush out the tanks and clean them with the laundry soap.
