Black tank treatments.

Back when i bought my first RV everyone recommended adding Calgon and Camco TST to your black tank.

Do people still recommend adding stuff to their black tank?

Are you adding anything to yours?
  • Agree with Thetford Aqua-Kem, it just plain works. But it works because it contains Methyl Alcohol and Formaldehyde, which I think is bad for my septic tank at home. So if I'm going to dump at home or in another septic tank, I use Thetford Campa-Chem, which sort of works unless it's real hot. It is "Formaldehyde Free!" according to the label. It contains Bromo-Nitropropane-Diol and surfactants. I guess I should find out how that affects a septic tank!
  • We just use Thetford Aqua-Kem. I’ve tried other stuff, but we like the smell of the blue stuff more than smells created by the other brands.
  • "Happy Camper", been using it for 5+ yrs, no problems and makes me a Happy Camper.. also, occasionally used in Gray tank, just mix with water and pour it in...
