- Community AlumniIn all the years and rv's we've owned, never had a black tank indicator that worked. I simply ignore it now and just dump about every 5 days or when we are ready to leave. The only indicators that have ever worked for me were the fresh water tank ones.

2007 Jayco jayflight 29 foot travel trailer. Gone out twice so far and after use I drain the tanks but the light on the black water tank shows 2/3 full and after hearing the sewage water go down the hose it seems empty but the light shows 2/3 full I'm afraid to go out this weekend and get set up to find a nearly full tank.. Anyone have that problem?
Almost everyone has that problem, the gauges are VERY unreliable. If you have a flush system it might clear the lights. If you do not have a flush system, get a wand that sticks down the toilet to clean the tank. Many just give up trying to keep them working.
