Black Window Caulk

My TT has black caulking on the windows that needs to be touched up. I've found loads of info about what type of sealant/caulking to use on the roof, but not much for the sides/windows. Does anyone have any suggestions as what color appropriate (black) caulking to use? Thanks in advance.

  • It might not be black caulking, but rather white butyl tape that has accumulated dirt over the years. I have never caulked my windows. I had a slight leak in my front window so I took out the screws, removed the window and replaced the butyl tape. Perfect now
  • Must agree with spoon059. using butyl tape is by far the best thing to do. Really easy if you have a assistant to loosen all the screws removing window, scrapping off worn out butyl tape, put on new and reinstall.
  • Thank you for the input. It is only a year old trailer and I don't have an active leak (that I know of). I just saw a small gap or some shrinkage in the caulk around a window, but that must just be the "finishing caulk" outside the tape. Will the Geocel work to fill this gap?
  • Yes or Tremco Proglaze. Either product, manufacturers use both. I beleive both are available in black, Proglaze certainly is. The geocel is made under the name proflex RV. The proglaze is a bit less messy, but I usually run painters tape along where I do not want to get it.
