"If you change the oil on a regular basis at less than recommended intervals there would be no reason for an analysis. Those analysis’ are for people that like to push there luck and go 12-15k miles between oil changes. And even with that I’d there were a problem it would be too late."
Not necessarily true. An oil analysis can tell you if you have small amounts of coolant or fuel in the oil. That could alert you to a developing problem before it becomes a major problem. Also it can tell you how well your oil is doing. I noticed when I changed from Mobil Delvac 1300 to Shell Rotella and then back to Mobile Delvac 1300, that iron numbers went up with Rotella and back down when I went back to Delvac. Now I use strictly Mobil Delvac 1300.
Besides, it gives me the warm fuzzies, and that's worth a few bucks. :)
