Hey, smkettner, if I lived in SoCal I wouldn't be winterizing either. I'd be using the rig all winter :) The folks who are doing it both ways are running the antifreeze after blowing out the lines only because they're afraid they may not have gotten all the water out. I suppose one could also run pink stuff then blow the lines out if they don't like leaving the pink stuff in them. Either way would work.
I just use the pink stuff. Otherwise I'd be one of those who do both to be sure. I use the TC occasionally during the winter and so sometimes just run a small electric heater. But with the tanks and lines in the basement, if it's going to sitting with temps below the mid-20s I prefer to have it winterized. So I often have to flush and rewinterize a couple times each winter. Generally takes a gallon and 10 minutes so no big deal.
