With electric brakes I have known 3 different occasions that the electro magnet that actuates the brake stick in the on position and did not return to its off position, properly, all three were discovered by hot wheels. (as in smoking) you can usually smell the problem prior to tire blow outs. all three of these were on relatively new trailers.
