Borrowing our hybrid !!

Hi Folks,

Simple question:
Would you let your children borrow your camper for week ends !

We have a new 2016 Roo 23ws and I personally don't agree. My wife on the other hand doesn't mind letting her daughter and her family use it .

What do you think !
  • How long have you been married? You need to learn rule #1: "She's always right."

That is going to be your decision haha... With all the things we have learned since owning the trailer it would be hard for me to turn it over to someone unexperienced. Just too many things that can go wrong that only comes with experience using the trailer...

Of course if the kids are well experienced with all this and can tow your trailer safely - sure why not...

I never 'borrow' things from anyone for these same reasons. I know good and well what will happen - been there done that already...

  • I'd let our son borrow our 5th wheel he knows how to drive a truck and trailer and owns a large boat. Plus he's more anal than my husband. Our daughter well that's a complete different ball of wax.
  • Our son and his family often (1 to 3 times a year) borrow ours. The grandkids especially enjoy it. The joy of letting them use ours far outweighs any problems. I do think it depends on how responsible they are.
  • Would you let your kids borrow your house for the weekend? How are they with towing? Do they know all about the different systems and how to properly use them? Are they responsible? It is a tough call. I don't have kids old enough, but I can tell you, I wouldn't let any of my family borrow it. None have a truck, and none have any trailering experience, never mind experience with a camper.
