Posting this for a buddy of mine as he was asking what I thought. He has a '15 F350 CC,4x4, sb,6.7 srw, air bags and Lower Stable Loads and tows a 38' +/- TH. Truck weighs 8500 and TH at 15,500. Most recent scale ticket says he has a pin of 3100. So now the problem. When he goes over bumps (expansion joints) he says the truck has a pretty good bounce to point of being kinda "violent" he said. Has the lower Stable Loads engaged, about 50 lbs of air in bags. Trucks squats about 2". I was thinking he may have the same issue I did w/ my dually w/ the aux spring slap.I won't be able to post any updates until next week and he said he won't have the TH out again for a few weeks. In the meantime, what's the consensus of his problem and solution to it?TIA gang.

Short bed truck, most likely the hitch is over the axle or behind. If it was moved to 2" ahead of axle, it would ride better.

Expansion joints at bridges are a problem for everyone that tows anything. His situation is not unique. We all experience that! And being as heavy as he is, he's going to feel it more. You can soften the suspension all you want, but the tires are still going to take the same "hit" no matter what rides on them. This is another reason why I avoid interstate at all costs, as much as possible. Faster speeds, harder hits on the tires! All the bells and whistles in the world to make it more comfortable for the passenger won't change the blunt the tires takes.

I added the Morryde Independent Suspension and that almost completely went away... Virtually the same set up... my pin is 3160 on my “15” F350 SRW

My thinking is to only put enough air in bags to make the truck leave with a load on it. If the back is higher you can get bounce. Some Rancho RS9000XL adjustable shocks may help also.

Well, that's like using a street sweeper to sweep your kitchen floor!

If the truck settles in where it should be with a load, he SHOULD be getting high beamed!
And with the ease of adjusting headlights on every newer truck I've been around, I can't imagine installing air bags to aim headlights!
Tell him to load the trailer, go adjust the headlights, count the number of turns it takes and when he loads the trailer, instead of spending 5 min filling airbags, spend 5 min adjusting headlights.

That is news to me. I put mine on to try to get a more level ride when running loaded to maintain suspension travel and ground clearance without adding springs that do add harshness.

I am amazed at how much money you guys seem to spend modifying your trucks but it seems to me that most of the pictures I see are for off-road use. I am not sure that we have the same issues that you do.

Thank you very much for the replies!!! He texted me stating the same. In my haste to post original item, I failed to mention the reason he added air bags was due to back end dropping enough that he was getting high beamed from oncoming traffic w/ 5er in tow.

Lower the pressure in the bags, I run 7.5 psi in mine with a 3800lb load any more than that and it lifts me off the springs too much and makes for a real bouncy ride. I would lower them 5 psi at a time until the ride improves, he might find he doesn't need the bags and just run them at their minimum pressure.

Edit to add//Also agree on upgrading stock shocks, made a huge difference on my truck.

If he is getting overload spring slap, he has too much air in the bags. If reducing pressure causes too much sag, upper StableLoads would fix that. My F250 used both Torklift products to carry 4000 lbs without bags.

X3 on needing more shocks. He added a lot of effective spring rate with the stabil loads and airbags. Now he needs to increase the damping to match.
