Brake Controller Adjustments

I have just installed a new Prodigy 2 controller on pre-wired 2011 Sierra. Installation was simple as per wiring harness labeling and instruction videos. However when going thru the adjustment process, started at voltage level 6 and increased, trying to hit the wheel lock-up point at 25mph. Never happened. Now unit is at max 12v setting and still never hit that lock-up point. ?? My used TT is only 6mo old (2013 V-Cross 30ft.) I assumed the brakes should not need adjustment already. As far as I know it was only towed on one 3000mi trip. This is my first TT and I am new at everything. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there some other adjustment to the controller unit? Any help/suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
  • Thanks .... Battery is at full charge. The brakes are being applied. The trailer will stop the entire rig, just not very quickly. What bothers me is they said full manual braking should be adjusted to just below the lock-up voltage level. I now have voltage all the way up to 12v and TT brakes will not lock.
  • I am not a mechanical person, so almost didn't reply. But, I was wondering 2 things: Does the trailer feel at all like it is helping with the stopping process? That should tell you something. And the other thought - Are the external batteries hooked up and charged on the trailer? I understand the TT brakes will only work by trailer supplied battery power. Sorry I don't have any suggestion on the controller unit.
