In my last Ford truck (2000) I had the Prodigy aftermarket controller. Although it worked well, it required adjustment for different conditions and never worked as well as the factory controller in my 2012. The factory unit does everything, works seamlessly with the trailer brakes and speed controls, has self tests and displays on performance. It even records the number of miles towing and differentiates between different trailers with preset levels for the different trailers. Great unit and way worth the price.
