I think it's a bit much to blame Toyota for something when no one know what caused it. Perhaps the tire man caught the brake line when he changed tires. Perhaps the brake man messed with it when he worked on the brakes. Perhaps the mechanic banged it with a tool when he worked on the differential. Perhaps the mechanic got too close to it when he used the torch to loosen a nut on the exhaust system.
Bottom line: it could be almost anything, up to and including a faulty line installed by the builder.
