AND, smashing the broken line with a ball peen hammer effectively stopped the leak. Therefore, there was no longer a leak spilling all the fluid out of the system.
I was planning a trip with the RV in a couple of days which happened to be the weekend and then a holiday. The parts guy had to order the brake hose for the right rear caliper that I needed as the original hose was built in to the metal line. Most parts stores do not keep these parts in stock for an E-450.
The parts guy told me he could get it the next day which turned in to three because of Sunday and the holiday on Monday so it did not arrive until Wednesday. I had considered capping the "T" that fed that part of the rear circuit and running it on three braking wheels but decided not to as I was also towing my pickup and really wanted full four wheel braking. Had I not been towing the pickup I am certain I would have had no trouble stopping the RV on three braking wheels as the front does most of the braking anyway. It would have worked just as you mentioned by smashing the line with a ball peen hammer. It would have sealed off the system and prevented the fluid from draining out just as smashing with a ball peen hammer did in your situation.
Thing is that when the line is open the fluid drains out of the entire system since the reservoir is NOT divided as mentioned a couple posts back.
