X 2,3,4,5,6,7 and any others who have done brake jobs and bled each wheel cylinder or caliper and have had the pedal hit the floor! Done enough brake jobs to know the pedal hits the floor when bleeding the brakes. :C
My 2005 dodge 3500 has a single plastic reservoir with two outlets to the master cylinder, same as the OP's 2012 Toyota Tundra, it too has a single plastic reservoir with two outlets to the master cylinder (one outlet to front brakes and second to the rear brakes)
Now, bust a brake line, bust a fitting... which happened to the OP as described with brake fluid running down the rear diff... guess what happens to the reservoir? It drains out the busted brake line or fitting, as my 2005 dodge ram and the Toyota's reservoirs are not dual! With little to no brake fluid left in the master cylinder reservoir, you do not enough fluid to pressurize the system... meaning little to no brakes!
Think of the reservoir as a bath tub with drains at each end, you and yer buddy are sharing a bath. Your buddy has had one too many Duffs and pops open the drain at his end of the tub... the water drains and neither of you are coming out clean! :S
