I spent nearly ten years as a professional mechanic and have done more brake jobs than I can remember and I agree with these guys, when you bleed the brakes in that manner the pedal DOES go all the way to the floor... to the stop.
Over those years I have replaced every single part on a brake system. Calipers, Rotors, brake lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, drums, pads, shoes, master cylinders, boosters, I have replaced them all. While mounting and design applications differ from one vehicle to another the basic principles and designs are the same.
Every single time I bled brakes on a vehicle, the pedal goes all the way to the floor when the guy under the vehicle opens the bleeder. When the system is devoid of air and the bleeder is closed there is normally only an inch or so of travel no matter how hard you depress the pedal.
