I only got to page 4 but wow!
Some folks with too much time to argue.
Synopsis, yes pedal goes to floor, yes you still get a little braking out of the end that was not affected, yes you will carp your pants right before you rear end someone if you have to stop NOW.
And yes, shat happens even with new or newer vehicles.
Had a new 01 Dodge Ram that grenaded 2 rear diffs in the first 1000 mi. Not a widespread problem by any means. Same axle used for decades and reliable.
New 1500 Chevy last year. ALL the elect function went haywire 1 day with about 300 mi on it. Caused no brakes too since it threw the abs into a tailspin.
New Ram 2500 last week 200 mi blew a power steering hose.
And just to keep from leaving out the Ford guys, 05 F150 lost 2 injectors at 10k mi. 08 F150, 30 k mi right side cat imploded and got so hot it almost burned the truck to the ground.
I could go on for days.
Sucks to be in the OPs situation but it happens every day to someone. Everything mechanical is a POS at some point. Just depends which one is the bigger pile on any given day. Having a newer vehicle only decreases those odds!
