Believe him. The brake material and rotors are much better than they use to be. GM got it right on this. I have an 03 GMC(tow vehicle) with 125k miles and brakes are still at 65%. I also have an 01 3500 Chevy that weighs 11k lbs with a plumbing utility bed. I replaced the front pads only at a 100k miles. Didn't even need to turn the rotors. I finally installed a new set of rotors and pads at a 190k miles.
