Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess it is truly a matter of knowing the circumstances of someone's life before you can decide if something is a good idea for them or not. For us, it was a great deal. We live in the PNW and this trailer was built for this area, better insulated etc. And $2k trade in value for a trailer that was given to us last year is good also. The only thing I am not about so far, is that the bed is too high for me to climb down from, it is perfect for my 6'2" husband however, and his height was the reason we were even looking at floor plans.
Also, I may have been expecting too much to have complete strangers to be thrilled for us. But we are pastors in a tiny town (pop. 250) and we are definitely not in the financial realm of Joel Osteen! We do however have one family in our church who gets very jealous if we buy a steak for dinner and so of course, I couldn't post my excitement about our new purchase on Facebook. They feel like as pastors we should be on food stamps, welfare, and have nothing of value. Weird, I think. They will find out about it eventually but I would rather be able to point out the blessing part of it to them.
Again, thanks for all the comments. I am so looking forward to our first real camping trip. We have camped all our lives, in tents, a tent trailer, and then finally the 1980. Now, the 2014!
