Brand new RVer w/no AC

Nothing to be 'ashamed' of.......SHAME on installer.

First for me, thought RV A/C units were 'hardwired' vs cord & plug.

Glad it was simple fix.

Well we had a 30 amp RV receptacle installed and the AC still didn't work. We did however discover the problem. THE UNIT WASN'T PLUGGED IN.
Now I really do feel like a fool. You are probably saying 'I don't believe I would have told that if I were her'.

T-stat...
Fan in Auto
Set to 'cool'
Temp set point lower than actual temp

Should hear 'click' at t-stat and fan should come on...then shortly after fan runs should hear compressor start (delay can be few seconds to 90 seconds)

Course that is dependent on 110V AC power available (plugged in and circuit breaker for AC on) and good 12V DC power

Maybe, maybe not. Some ACs, but not all, will run on a 15A circuit is nothing else is running on it. At the least, it should try to start and the OP indicated that it would not. It would more than likely need a 20A circuit to run effectively but it should at least try to start.

I had a 30 amp RV receptacle installed here at my house but it ran the air off of the normal 110 plug in with nothing else running.One must use a minimum of a 12 wire extension cord, the smaller ones just don't cut it if your using an extension cord.

Number 10 wire extensions to your RV cord are a good investment.

How long did you wait for the AC to come on? On mine, which is a Dometic unit controlled by a wall thermostat, it will take several minutes before the AC actually starts when I turn it on after a long (several hour) period of no use. Don't know if that is for the thermostat to start working or what but it does it all the time.

Thanks everyone! the controls are wall mounted; yes-dealer demonstrated but obviously I am technically challenged; breaker is not tripped; fan does not work; TV is not installed yet; and, I will check the microwave this morning. We called the dealer and they said there probably just isn't enough electricity running through to run it or that it could be the adapter plug is faulty. We are going to have 30A installed in workshop. If anyone thinks we are proceeding incorrectly, please advise. You certainly seem like a great bunch of RVers and I am happy to be here!

You need 110V noted above and in my case I ran aseparate circuit from the breaker to provide that 110V at 30A, just like in a campground.

It should still at least try to run, it may trip the breaker but it has no way of knowing how many amps it is hooked to. I think something else is going on like the breaker is off or no power.

Does the AC fan work and not compresser? Lights may be working with power from battery. Does TV and microwave operate?
