Break Out Another Thousand....

Man, it costs to keep these RV's / Trucks and trailers on the road.

Having my transmission rebuilt this week in my 2500 diesel.

There goes another $2000....

I guess that's better than making big payments every month for a new one though.

Anyone spending any $$$$ on your rigs lately?

  • My unscheduled repairs on my F150 have been maybe $1,000 over the entire life.
About $700 for the transmission valve body repair, $160 for an alternator and at some point a fuel pump was replaced for a few $$.
    201,000 miles, 18 years.
  • I had to have the timing chain, tensioners, and all associated parts replaced on my 3.5 EB. That set me back over $2000 but I agree that it is better than buying a new one at this point.

Which tranny? Hoping my aisin tranny lasts as long as the engine (3 to 4 hundred thousand miles) - I paid enough extra for it.

  • No. I have owned my Ford 7.3 since new which is 17 years, only maintenance.
    Rockwood Micro LIte. No problems.
Jetcraft 1925 runs like a top.

Trucks last much longer now. You get rewarded for being easy on them and doing the right maintenance.

Been about a year ago now, but spent $1500 on 6 tires for the 3500 dually and 3 months ago $1200 for all new rubber on the 5er (4 tires).

What kind of tires did you put on the 5th wheel for $1200? I put four Goodyear Endurance E Rated tires on mine last month for $595 ($135 each plus tax and fee to dispose of the china bombs, mounted and installed).
  • Had two minor sensor issues covered under warranty but never any repairs in 80,000 miles. Knocking on wood.
  • Many times over. Been full timing for 14 years. It takes many thousands of dollars To keep my diesel pusher on the road.
