- goducks10ExplorerI'm really in a conundrum. I don't like Ford seats, Rams always break down and I don't like the looks of GM trucks. I need a 3/4 ton truck.
- DadoffourgirlsExplorerThe 2014 Sales is the first story that has measurable, complete, and defined analysis. IHS obtains vehicle registrations. Therefore, their data is complete versus what cars.com participating dealers or other sources. Hopefully they will produce a 2016 map.

You could virtually copy this whole thread when someone links pickup sales for any given month.
Same for trailer tires thread. That's why we are down to ten pages of topics.
Same old garbage.
But how else do we justify our life choices and criticize others for not buying what we bought? :h
Patriot... Perhaps you can post that article again that shows the percent of market by diesel engine brand. :B
I don't know about diesel sales but I have seen articles on favorite brand registration for each state. It's a little dated but I don't think the market has shifted much since 2014.

I'm nursing a strained back and had some time today to wander over to the Dieselstop which I frequented often when I owned my Ford diesels. Let's just say after a few minutes reading the 6.7L forum (with my jaw on the floor I'm sure) I was very happy with my decision to buy a Cummins. I read of several complete engine failures at low mileages. As much as the 6.0L had a lot of nasty problems complete engine failure was rare. Not so much with the 6.7L. Say what you might about the Ram but the latest generation is much better than previous generations and the Ram forums are COMPLETELY different than the Ford diesel forums. Yes there are a few people with some issues (most relatively minor) but nothing like I read today. I'm very happy I got off the Blue Koolaid.
Based on CR surveys some Ram owners may dissagree.

My Ram is a turd. I'm ready to dump it after all the time its been in the shop. Everything is a disaster waiting to happen. Don't believe the Ram mafia hype.
Just because you got a bad one doesn't mean they are all bad. What do you intend to replace it with?
I guess I'm unlucky because my Ram also had a lot of problems. And so did my father's which is why he got rid of his. Maybe the CR survey is a little more accurate than you give it credit for. - blofgrenExplorer

How much you want to bet not another ram!
You're probably right; Ram doesn't spend nearly as much on marketing and doesn't have the blind loyalty klan like Ford does. blofgren wrote:

There's no doubt it's stunning how so many people were burned in the 6.0L, 6.4L and to some degree the 6.7L Ford fiascos and still come back for more. When reading the Dieselstop yesterday I was amazed how many were trading off 2011-2014 6.7L trucks for new models to avoid the disasters that they have been known to cause. One has to give it to Ford, they have incredible marketing. I got burnt on my 6.0L in repairs and resale and wasn't going in for Round 2! And this is coming from what was a die hard Ford man! :B
And what Chris said is true in my area too. The vast majority of new tow trucks and service trucks here are Rams where they used to be exclusively Ford. Also the new ambulances here are Duramax van cutaways where they used to be exclusively Fords as well. - goducks10Explorer

I only posted this because when the usual monthly report comes out there's no breakdown for 1/2, 3/4 and 1 tons. I guess you don't have to read it if you're not interested. patriotgrunt wrote:

I must be lucky. I had a great experience with my 6.0 PSD for 10 years in a F250 and am now into the third year with my 6.7 CTD with no problems or recalls on my chassis cab 5500 (did have software updates every dealer visit).
Ford is still selling class 5 chassis cabs 3 to 1 compared to Ram. Around my area, you rarely see a chassis cab Ram and I wouldn't be surprised if the ratio is closer to 12 to 1 here.
Watch for new Armored Cars, Wreckers, and Ambulances. Lots of RAMs, and less and less Fords.
Meet the latest Ram mafia... BTW the information listed above is so wrong. Come down to the truck capital of the world and you'll be disappointed.
