- BedlamModeratorIt's hard to tell since the badges have been removed. From the angle, the tail pipe looked smaller than mine on the first unit. The second picture shows a DEF fill port next to the cab of second unit...

Watch for new Armored Cars, Wreckers, and Ambulances. Lots of RAMs, and less and less Fords.
Are you sure that those LAFD vehicles were not Hemi powered? I've seen more E450 cutaways using the V10 gasser than I have seen of any configuration Ram chassis cabs. Almost all class 5 tow trucks I still see running around the city are Ford F550's - They used to be almost exclusively diesel and now I hear few driving by that are also using the V10 gasser (I work close to a popular tow away zone and get to see my share of them in my little part of the world).
Blow up the pic below, that looks like a clean idle sticker on the fender. I remember them to be diesel. - BedlamModerator

The resale value on my current Ram is killing me. I'm going to take a blood bath trading it in.
Just curious, if you think Ram is so terrible and GM and Ford are so vastly superior... why did you buy a Ram in the first place?
Furthermore, where are you looking to sell that you can't get a decent trade in price on a 3 year old diesel? Around my parts, the used diesels cost darn near as much as brand new ones... including the "horrible" Rams... - spoon059Explorer II

Come down to the truck capital of the world and you'll be disappointed.
Ah yes, the land where the Toyota Tundra is made. Still the most American made pickup truck since 2007... - TxsurferExplorerDiesel failures seem to be the common theme here.. is there this much hate and anger of the 3/4 gassers these days?

I'm nursing a strained back and had some time today to wander over to the Dieselstop which I frequented often when I owned my Ford diesels. Let's just say after a few minutes reading the 6.7L forum (with my jaw on the floor I'm sure) I was very happy with my decision to buy a Cummins. I read of several complete engine failures at low mileages. As much as the 6.0L had a lot of nasty problems complete engine failure was rare. Not so much with the 6.7L. Say what you might about the Ram but the latest generation is much better than previous generations and the Ram forums are COMPLETELY different than the Ford diesel forums. Yes there are a few people with some issues (most relatively minor) but nothing like I read today. I'm very happy I got off the Blue Koolaid.
Based on CR surveys some Ram owners may dissagree.

My Ram is a turd. I'm ready to dump it after all the time its been in the shop. Everything is a disaster waiting to happen. Don't believe the Ram mafia hype.
Just because you got a bad one doesn't mean they are all bad. What do you intend to replace it with?
Likely not a Ram. The resale value on my current Ram is killing me. I'm going to take a blood bath trading it in. Also, the better HD trucks on the market are relatively new and more expensive. Ford and GM both have new diesels with more power but they're not discounting them yet. I have to say that the new 17 Super Duty is a fine truck ;) - spud1957Explorer

Prove me wrong with facts. You are the one quoting what I said and you did state some facts but they do not apply to my statement
:h Statistical analysis would show that Ford sells more DRW than Ram. What do you got?
I disagree, prove me wrong.
Guess you don't believe in data analytics. I already proved you wrong. (again ;))

I must be lucky. I had a great experience with my 6.0 PSD for 10 years in a F250 and am now into the third year with my 6.7 CTD with no problems or recalls on my chassis cab 5500 (did have software updates every dealer visit).
Ford is still selling class 5 chassis cabs 3 to 1 compared to Ram. Around my area, you rarely see a chassis cab Ram and I wouldn't be surprised if the ratio is closer to 12 to 1 here.
