OP, springs don't fail because they are light or heavy. They fail due to poor material and heat treating.

There is a lot of junk springs coming into this country. A lot of parts are like that now days.

Sorry, I can't give you an idea on how to get a good quality spring other than have spring shop that has a good reputation make you one.
