Apples and oranges but here is a story.
A good friend had a twin hot rod Aero Commander. They were supercharged engines.
He flew to some airport 500 miles away from his home base and filled up his tanks. He left the airport and within a few minutes he started to have a high EGT problem. :E
He had to throttle back a bunch to keep it from going into the red.
So he finally lands at his home base airport and was told to immediately report to the office. He gets there and they tell him to not fly his plane because he got loaded with contaminated fuel. Someone mixed JP1 with LL100. :E
Shell said they were responsible and would make him whole again. IIRC the FAA said each engine had to be rebuilt to the tune of 80 grand apiece! :E
He sold the airplane with the known issue to the new owner and paid off his house.
Contaminated fuel can cause lots of $$$$$. Airplanes with contaminated fuel can cost a lot more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$................and lives sometimes. :E
