All your buddy has to do is fill up somewhere else and this station is off the hook for any future repairs, since there won't be any way to prove whether the damage was caused by this incident, or the fuel from any other station he filled up at.
I would bet dollars to donuts that if that HPFP fails next month or next year, the station or the fuel delivery company is NOT going to pay for repairs....they already paid for the repairs the dealer performed and the truck is now running fine again.
Your buddy should run the numbers on a trade vs potential $12k repair on his current truck.
