We do have plenty of crawling critters down here for sure! ;)
But, in over 5 years of owning RV's, we have NEVER had a cockroach, palmetto bug, or whatever other name they go by in the rigs or the storage compartments. More issues with campsite ants and mud daubers than with the cucharachas........ Oh, and there's some variety of spider down here that has a real affinity for the LP compartment; wish I knew why.
Word of caution on the spray pesticides though. I would stay away from any petroleum based stuff, particularly those aerosol long range wasp killers. I engaged in chemical warfare with an occupied mud dauber nest on a slide topper last year with one. Despite a good aim, some of the spray hit the EPDM membrane, and instantly blistered it off the deck.
