Bully Dog or other brand diesel engine monitor

I recently bought my first diesel truck. A 2013 GMC 3500 ......I am wondering if I need to know the information that a monitor will give me. Isn't the gages on the truck enough information to safely...

How heavy is your 5th wheel? I like the Edge Insight CTS. I had to tap into the exhaust manifold for the exhaust gas temp probe. There are 22 different sensors to monitor and you can also use the Insight as a back up camera. Saved my marriage ;)
