Bully Dog or other brand diesel engine monitor

I recently bought my first diesel truck. A 2013 GMC 3500 ......I am wondering if I need to know the information that a monitor will give me. Isn't the gages on the truck enough information to safely...

You may want to monitor boost and/or EGT. If you have an Android based smartphone, I highly recommend the Torque Pro App ($4.99 on Google Play) plus one of a number of Bluetooth OBDII adapters for under $20 shipped on Amazon.
