Bunk House Safety

We have had a bunk house for a while but the bunks were only open about 1/3 of the length. A wall covered the rest so the kids couldn't roll out. Got a new camper with open bunks and my son rolled out the first night. Luckily he was on the lowest one so the fall wasn't to far. I'm looking for options to help with this because I don't want them to fall and get hurt. Thought about some type of bed rails but I think all the ones that I have seen wouldn't work because of the hinged area at the base. I don't think it would fit between the side of the bunk and the mattress. Anybody got a good idea. It would be great if it was a good/cheap idea since we just purchased a new trailer.
Thanks
  • I made a small wall to keep my kids in when they were small. I just got a piece of 1/4 plywood cut it to length and ripped it down so it was about 10" tall. This gave me a small short wall 8" tall. I covered it with padding and some outdoorsy looking material from a fabric store. I attached it to the back side of the wood that keeps the mattres in place.
  • Ikea has some nice bunk bed rails that slide over the outside portion of the bed.
  • Depending on your set up, you could potentially use an adjustable shower curtain rod. It'll sit in place with pressure and be easy to take on and off.
