Seems high to me. Granted, there is a difference it our '07 ROO Hybrid we just sold for $9500 and pristine, and included the WDH and a ton of extras vs the bunkhouse you're looking at. But not only does the initial "best" price seem steep, their $850 doc fee is outlandish! Most dealers tack on something like that, but not at that price. You'll need a WDH, and a very good one should run you $500 - $600. A brake controller, $150??? Seems like they didn't want to sell it very badly and I think you were smart to walk. And the interest seems steep. Interest on new is usually lower than pre-owned, but think our new TT we bought in May was 5% or so...can't remember exactly. Sales tax you're stuck with anyway. Strictly for a point of reference, suggest you go online to either or both, RV Wholesalers in OH or RV Direct in NY - also another location somewhere. Look over their comparable new units - RVW does sell Rockwood, which is what both of ours were/are. They don't list prices, but will email you a quote and it's a firm, no games quote. If you are interested in the financing end, they can get you an interest rate on that, too. Since the location is not exactly right around the corner, they can have it delivered and will quote that, but if there is any way to work out picking up, it's best. That said and you have no interest in buying from either, you do have a good bargaining tool and will know exactly what you could get a brand new one for. On our hybrid, we saved over $4000 with RVW over our local dealer and even more on our recent change to the TT.
If you belong to a credit union, might check their rates. When we bought out ROO, they had a horrible interest and very short term. Since you're looking at this long term, you might want to finance for a bit longer at a lower interest with a payment you can manage, then try to pay it off sooner. There are folks who will fuss about financing a "toy", but not everyone has $X available in their account or may not want to go into their investments. The interest you pay on the trailer is deductible as a second home, so every little bit helps.
We've been pleased with the fit and finish of both our Rockwood trailers. You're going to have a given amount of maintenance regardless, but we only had 1 warranty issue and it was a recall on the refrigerator.
Hope you'll keep looking. I think you can do much better and bunkhouses are very popular, so should be a bunch to choose from. Internet is your friend for saving miles looking.
