Bunks into Storage space

I have two top bunks that I don't use for sleeping. They always been used to store stuff .. pillows, blankets etc. Problem is, they are always in the floor when we get to destination. I'd love to have cabinets up there instead. This is in the rear of the trailer ...I don't want to add too much weight, any other ideas that would look nice to convert bunks to storage ?

Huh, I have your same exact trailer. I have my 2 boys sleep on the top bunks and store all of our blankets and pillows up there while we are traveling, I use bed rails to keep everything up there. I recently took out the bottom bunks, which left some nice size cubby holes in the back. I put our extra fridge in one cubby hole and plan to put a bar across the other to hang clothes. This opened up the entire floor space back there, so I added 2 of these stacked From Walmart, they fit stacked just under the top bunk(we also have a carpet/rug). Still leaves a lot of room for something else.
  • I am tearing out the top bunk of my TT and installing cabinets. My trailer originally came with cabinets as an option in this area.

I will just get some small cabinets at Home Depot and install. The weight difference will be minimal. and I only put light stuff up that high anyway and I need the storage for clothes.

I dont think you will have any problem and it's the cleanest solution.

If you are still worried call the factory and ask to talk to a designer or engineer, explain your idea and see what he/she says about modifying your model this way.

Wow, those nets are so nice I am trying to think of a place to use them!

I am also thinking I should start a thread and ask for ideas on my own storage problem :).
  • Ya beat me to it Y-Guy, it's light weight easy storage able when removed, can be made to latch on both sides and when opened latched to the opposite side, air flow, strong and takes up little width in that space.
  • You could try installing some bed rails (kinda like we do so our little ones won't fall out of bed...)

Another idea, maybe you could use some form of cargo net.
