1. If the worst happens, can I put an older junk yard, say 2010 and up, Cummins in the new trucks? No emissions testing where I live, and my first Cummins was in a 1971 Ford dump, I know that one would not fit.
2. What is the best forum for the Ram diesels?
Physically, the 2010 6.7 will bolt up to a 2020, but I don't know about electronic connections.
I don't think you should be afraid of a 2020 6.7 Cummins catastrophically failing. I have a 2014 that has all the exact emissions equipment as a 2020. The truck had 70,000 miles when I bought it and I've put 80,000 miles on the truck in 5 years of ownership.
In that time I've only had 4 issues:
1) A plastic Y pipe in the radiator hose cracked, but that fitting was only used on that model.
2) A check engine light 4 years ago for insufficient DEF. That ended up being cheap, bargain brand DEF I bought was poor quality and triggered the sensor. Since then I've only used Peak Blue DEF and no problems since.
3) Inner wheel hub seals on the rear axle were leaking. I replaced those with unitized seals and all is good.
4) Right side U-joint in the front axle had to be replaced.
I'd say that's a pretty small list of things and with how I've used the truck to tow there's no concern about catastrophic failures.
