It's been done lots of time, by many I am sure. My in-laws did last year, bought a new 5vr in Florida. They had a problem at the border, and had to drop the trailer there and leave it while they fixed the problem. They didn't have the original plate document or something from the dealer? it was a photocopy and Customs wouldn't except it. It was likley a problem with the dealer not understanding the process since they were in Florida, I sure Michigan dealers are more familiar with this.
But why not first take the print off price from the US dealer to your Canadian dealer and show them the 3K saving, tell them come down or you'll buy there...at least you gave them the chance and save yourself the whole hassle. That's how I got my dealer to lower the price, I told them, the US border isn't far and lots of selection there :W
Might not get $3000.00 off but with your method they should be able to reduce enough to make the local sale worth it.
they won't here in NB. I gave them all the quotes from Wana Rv center and they just said "go buy it". I was willing to spend 2200 over Wana's pricing (allowing plenty for the extra shipping costs) but the closest they could come to was 6000. It is of course different in Ontario. I found quite a few dealers that would come within a 1000 of the Ohio wholesalers in Ontario.
