first, I appreciate everyone's advice as we incorporated many of your suggestions into our purchase today. Here are the details, hopefully they will help someone down the road who may find themselves in my shoes.
We went to a total of 3 dealerships in person and phone calls to 2 others in a total of 3 states collecting prices.
Trailer we wanted: Forest River Salem Cruise Lite- 281QBXL
Suggested retail price: 27,500 (almost 30K with tax)
Negotiated price- 18,300 (no dealer fees, processing fees, no fees period)
Percentage off of SRP: 33.5% off
Trade in of small camper: 3000
Out the Door Price: 16,400
Total time spent researching prices- 48 hours.
It can be done. We pick the trailer up on Tuesday!
